Get your family set up in minutes

Follow this guide to get every DayBlocks module working for your household. Start with the basics and add modules as you need them.

🚀 Getting started

DayBlocks works entirely in your browser — no download required. Every module is a separate page and shares a single login session.

  1. Open TaskBlocks at /tasks — this is your home base.
  2. Create an account using your email or sign in with Google. Your data is stored securely in the cloud and syncs across devices.
  3. Add your first task using the + button. Tasks live in time blocks — morning, afternoon, evening, or a specific hour slot.
  4. Install the app on your phone (see the Install section below) so it opens like a native app.
Tip: Each module remembers your login, so once you're in you won't need to sign in again unless you clear your browser data.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Setting up your family group

A family group lets household members share chores, pantry lists, budget data, school mail, and more — while keeping individual task lists private.

  1. Open FamilyBlocks and tap Create group.
  2. Give your group a name (e.g. "The Smiths").
  3. Copy your invite link or code and share it with your partner or other family members.
  4. Each person opens the invite link and joins with their own account. They'll see shared data immediately.
Note: Each person needs their own DayBlocks account. Their personal task list stays private — only shared modules (chores, pantry, budget, etc.) are visible to the group.

TaskBlocks

Your daily command center. Tasks are organized into time blocks throughout the day, with a Focus panel for what's most important right now.

Key concepts

  • Day blocks — drag tasks into morning, afternoon, or evening blocks, or assign a specific hour.
  • Focus panel — pin up to 3 tasks to the top so they're always visible.
  • Day offset — swipe left/right or use the arrows to plan ahead or review past days.
  • Companion — a small motivational character. Tap it to switch companions.

Getting the most out of it

  • Use the Today tab as your morning check-in — review what's planned and set your focus.
  • Long-press a task to edit, reschedule, or delete it.
  • Recurring tasks repeat automatically — set frequency when creating.

🧹 ChoreBlocks

Assign and track household chores across family members. Everyone can see what's done and what still needs doing.

  1. Make sure your family group is set up first.
  2. Open ChoreBlocks and tap + Add chore.
  3. Set the chore name, assign it to a family member, and choose a frequency (daily, weekly, etc.).
  4. Family members tap the chore to mark it complete — everyone sees the update in real time.
Tip: Use the All / Mine toggle to switch between seeing every chore and only chores assigned to you.

🛒 PantryBlocks

A shared grocery and pantry management system. Track what you have, what you need, and build shopping lists together.

  1. Open PantryBlocks.
  2. Add items to your pantry — scan a barcode or type the name.
  3. Mark items as low or out of stock; they'll automatically move to the shopping list.
  4. When you're at the store, check off items as you pick them up.

💪 HealthBlocks

Log workouts, track nutrition, and monitor health metrics for yourself. Optionally connect a fitness tracker.

  1. Open HealthBlocks and choose your goals (weight, steps, water intake, etc.).
  2. Log a workout using the + Log button. Pick activity type, duration, and any notes.
  3. Use the Nutrition tab to log meals and track macros for the day.
  4. Connect Strava or Fitbit via the Settings → Integrations panel to auto-import workouts.
Note: Health data is personal — it is not shared with your family group.

💰 BudgetBlocks

Track household income and expenses. Set monthly budgets by category and see where your money goes.

  1. Open BudgetBlocks.
  2. Set up your monthly budget categories (groceries, utilities, dining, etc.) under Budget → Setup.
  3. Add transactions manually or import from a CSV file.
  4. Review the monthly summary chart to see spending vs. budget at a glance.
Tip: Shared family group members can all log expenses, making it easy to track who spent what without awkward conversations.

📬 MailBlocks School

A dedicated inbox for school communications. Forward school emails here so the whole family stays in the loop on events, permission slips, and announcements.

  1. Open MailBlocks.
  2. Copy your unique family inbox address from the Settings panel.
  3. Forward school emails — or set up auto-forwarding in your email client — to that address.
  4. All family members can view, filter, and act on school mail from one place.

Manage your family group, member profiles, and shared settings from one place.

  • View all family members and their roles.
  • Generate a new invite link to add members.
  • Remove members or update the group name.
  • Set shared preferences like time zone and week start day.

💊 MedBlocks

Track medications and supplements for every family member. Get reminders and log doses.

  1. Open MedBlocks and tap + Add medication.
  2. Enter the medication name, dosage, and schedule (once daily, twice daily, as needed, etc.).
  3. Enable browser notifications to get dose reminders at the right time.
  4. Tap Log dose each time a medication is taken — the log is timestamped automatically.
Note: Med data is per-person and not shared with other family group members by default.

🔧 HomeBlocks

Track home maintenance tasks, appliance warranties, and repair history so nothing slips through the cracks.

  1. Open HomeBlocks.
  2. Add your home's major systems and appliances under Inventory.
  3. Log maintenance tasks with a date so you know when things were last serviced.
  4. Set reminders for annual tasks like HVAC filters, gutter cleaning, and more.

📱 Install DayBlocks as an app

DayBlocks is a Progressive Web App (PWA) — you can install it on any device and it opens like a native app, even offline.

iPhone / iPad (Safari)

  1. Open /tasks in Safari.
  2. Tap the Share button (the box with an arrow pointing up).
  3. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
  4. Give it a name and tap Add.

Android (Chrome)

  1. Open /tasks in Chrome.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu in the top right.
  3. Tap Add to Home screen or Install app.
  4. Confirm and the app icon will appear on your home screen.

Desktop (Chrome / Edge)

  1. Open /tasks in Chrome or Edge.
  2. Look for the install icon in the address bar (a monitor with a down arrow).
  3. Click it and confirm installation.
Tip: Once installed, DayBlocks caches pages for offline use. Your tasks and data sync automatically when you're back online.

Frequently asked questions

How many family members can I add?

The base subscription supports up to 5 members per family group.

Is my data private?

Your personal data (tasks, health logs, medications) is only visible to you. Shared data (chores, pantry, budget, school mail) is visible to your family group members only — no one else.

Can I use DayBlocks on multiple devices?

Yes. Sign in with the same account on any device and your data syncs automatically.

I forgot my password — what do I do?

On the login screen, tap Forgot password and enter your email. You'll get a reset link in a few minutes. Check your spam folder if you don't see it.
